Background. The article presents the basic concepts of Paulo Freire’s pedagogical views, as Freire is not widely known among educators in the Russian Federation. Also the article focuses on social, historical and economic factors that influenced the formation and development of the pedagogical views of Paulo Freire in the middle of the XX century (Brazil).
Results. The author has researched the above-mentioned conditions of the XX century Brazil and pointed out the relationship between the social and economic situation and the formation of pedagogical views of Paulo Freire.
Conclusions. The economic slowdown in the XX century in Brazil, social strati-fication and cultural alienation of some groups of the Brazilian population had a di-rect impact on the pedagogical views of Paulo Freire.
